Jeff Rose is a veteran photojournalist with decades of experience in Washington broadcasting. From the war in Afghanistan to numerous political conventions, Rose was on the ground for ABC-7 WJLA, covering a wide range of critical stories for thirty years.
Rose now serves as Sinclair Broadcast Group’s chief unmanned aircraft Systems (UAS) pilot. In this role, Rose has traveled to Sinclair’s local news stations throughout the country, bringing drone technology to journalists in markets from Little Rock, Arkansas to Columbus, Ohio.
Under Rose’s leadership, Sinclair’s UAS program has grown to include 22 journalists. By the end of 2017, Sinclair plans to have 80 trained and FAA certified pilots operating in our local communities.
As a licensed private pilot, Rose’s love of flying and passion for storytelling have coalesced in his interest in using drones for newsgathering. He looks forward to seeing how the integration of this new technology can continue to enhance the way broadcasters deliver information to their viewers.
